Cruising II, Paper Collage, 12 pieces, each 17×25 cm, 2018

Cruising II is the continium of the series which was produced for the Istanbul edition of colony. Dealing with the politics of space in terms of everyday life, survival and resistance of LGBTİQ’s, both series are combining indoor and outdoor sites where once LGBTİQ’s in space, but later foreclosed by the state politics, gentrification, urban planning and real estate enterprises. By using images taken from online real estate sites, the collages are recording the domestic spaces of sex workers, transgenders and queers were residing in the specific neighboorhoods of Istanbul such as Pürtelaş Sokak and Ülker Sokak. Recalling the architectural details, the patterns belong to home textiles or a view from the window, Cruising II, reclaims the memory belongs to these spaces which are now online, and waiting its new owners. Combining this interior imagery belongs to Istanbul with outdoor images of the neighboorhoods which are significant for LGBTİQ urban life Berlin, the collages, that all grounded on a tiny blue structure reminds of a sailing boat, are cruising through time between both cities.
