After browsing the archives, I decide to transform a news headline from Hürriyet newspaper regarding the Meis Gated Community incidents that read Namus Bahane Rant Şahane [Rent Racket Seeks Lofty Moral Tax] in stencil, borrowing the visual language of the streets. I exhibit the initial version of this work in Geography (2017), the exhibition organised as part of the 25th Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week. Namus Bahane Rant Şahane [Rent Racket Seeks High Moral Tax] rings in my ears like a slogan. It brings to my mind the sort of vocal rhythm that can be chanted loudly in the streets, or during the Pride Week.*
